Rules and Regulations

The Eagles Mere Country Club is a private club operated for the enjoyment of its members and guests. All members and their guests shall be governed by the Club's rules and regulations.

I. Membership – Louise Rubel, Committee Chair

There are four classes of membership. All memberships are “Family Memberships” with privileges extended to the member's spouse and unmarried children under the age of 23.

CLASS I VOTING MEMBERS

A Voting Member shall pay the required initiation fee, purchase 10 shares of club stock, and pay the annual dues covering the use of all club facilities. A Voting Member also has an “Extended Family Privilege” which is available for any unmarried child age 23 through 27 whereby he or she will have full member privileges for an annual fee of $500 (for 2008) which will be billed to their parents. (Should this child later decide to become a Junior Member, $100 of each annual fee that has been paid will be credited toward their initiation fee).

CLASS I PREFERRED, VOTING

Class I Voting Members in good standing on November 1, 1978 may elect to pay annual dues and the annual or monthly fees currently in effect for the activities of their choice, or alternatively, elect to pay the flat, all privilege annual fees currently in effect for Class I Voting Members. The “Extended Family Privilege” is also applicable.

CLASS II SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP

Class II Social Membership shall entitle the member to certain club privileges, but shall not entitle the member to purchase club stock or vote on club matters. Class II Social Members shall pay an initiation fee and annual dues for the use of the club house and tennis courts. Social Members may use the golf course after 12:00 noon by paying applicable daily fees. Social Members are limited to seven rounds of golf “in season”. This limitation shall not apply to designated Club sponsored events (Stag Days, Mixed Member Guest, Low Net Low Gross, and Ladies Guest Day). A Class II Member, his or her spouse, immediate family (i.e. unmarried children under the age of 23) may also use the golf course facilities of the club subject to fees at the member's rate: however, guests and family members over 22 years of age, when playing with the Class II Member, will be charged the unaccompanied guest fee rate.

CLASS III JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP

Junior Membership is available for the age group 23 through 34 years whereby, after paying an initiation fee of $1,000, the remainder of their initiation fee is prorated until their 35th birthday, at which time they become full Voting Members. Until their 35 th birthday, they pay the annual dues of a full Voting Member.

CLASS III JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP – HEREDITARY

Hereditary Junior Membership is available for the children of Voting Members age 23 through 34, whereby after paying an initiation fee of $1,000, the remainder of their initiation fee is prorated until their 35 th birthday, at which time they become full Voting Members. Until their 35 th birthday, their annual dues is ½ that of a full Voting Member.

CLASS IV LIMITED MEMBERSHIP

II. Dues and Fees

Annual dues and fees for all classes of Membership are set by the Board of Directors. All dues and fees must be paid by April 1.

III. By-Laws

Copies of the Club's By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation are available for inspection in the Club Office or may be obtained upon request from the Manager. All members are expected to abide by their provisions.

IV. Guest Privileges

Members may extend guest privileges to use the facilities of the Club. To arrange for unaccompanied guests, the sponsoring member must notify the manager or assistant manager for guests requiring food and beverage and/or the golf professional for tennis or golf prior to the guest's arrival. Such notification shall be made at least 24 hours in advance of the guest's visit, preferably in writing.

No person shall be entitled to use the golf course as a guest more than seven days between the Memorial Day Weekend (Friday) and Labor Day inclusive (“in-season”) in any one calendar year. This limitation shall not apply to designated Club sponsored events (Stag Days, Mixed Member Guest, Low Net Low Gross, and Ladies Guest Day).

Unaccompanied guests using the golf or tennis facilities are limited to starting times after 12:00 noon.

V. Golf – Robert A. Zelten, Committee Chair

Members and their guests are welcome to play our beautiful, William Flynn designed golf course. Our rules are designed to make golf more enjoyable for everyone. Please review these rules and report your concerns to the Pro Shop or the Golf Committee Chair. "In Season" is Memorial Day Weekend (Friday) through Labor Day inclusive. Players are expected to maintain a 4 hour pace of play and staff will patrol the course periodically to sustain the speed of play. If you are unable to maintain a 4 hour pace, please play in non-peak hours (after 1 p.m.). Please adhere to the rules of golf etiquette. Minimizing congestion is the responsibility of the Golf Pro. Accurate yardage is indicated on tee signs and is also indicated on sprinkler heads to center of green. The Pro Shop is equipped with an electrical storm warning system which operates only when the Pro Shop is open.  Always use common sense when weather conditions threaten.  Respect lightning.  When the horn sounds, players must seek shelter immediately.

Course Rules: All play is governed by U.S.G.A. Rules except those local rules noted on the Score Card or posted at the Pro Shop. Please replace all divots, fix ball marks on greens, fill all par three (and fairway, if you carry a sandbottle) divots with soil/seed mix, pick up tees and other debris to protect mower blades, rake bunkers and place rakes outside of bunkers parallel to the fairway. Out-of-bounds is indicated by white stakes. The stone wall on #2 is out of bounds. Balls hit through or over #3 fence are out of bounds . Balls in flower beds behind #1 green must be moved to drop area without penalty. Balls near newly planted trees (staked or white wrapping) interfering with swing or stance (not line of sight) must be dropped. Soft (non-metal) spikes are required for all players.

Practice Range Rules: The practice range is open from 8:00 to 5:00 daily except on Tuesday when it closes at 4:30. On Tuesdays, players must stop hitting balls at 4:30 . Range balls only must be used during hours of operation and are available at the Pro Shop at seasonal or per-use charges. Please hit within roped areas .

Player Rules: Proper golf attire is required at all times. Acceptable attire for ladies includes slacks, proper length golf shorts or skirts, with an acceptable golf shirt or blouse. Acceptable attire for men includes slacks or proper length golf shorts, and shirts with collars. Jeans, cut-offs, tennis shorts, tee shirts, fishnet shirts, halter and tank tops are unacceptable. Alcohol is not permitted on the course. Each player must have his/her own set of golf clubs and bag. Non-playing persons are prohibited from playing areas unless accompanied by a member. Members are required to post scores and maintain a proper handicap in order to play in club events.

Rules of Play: All players must register at the Pro Shop before beginning play. Members and guests beginning play before hours of operation of the Pro Shop, must register after finishing their round of play. On days with shotgun starts, members must adhere to the designated shotgun starting time, i.e., 8:00 or 8:30 and report to the Pro Shop to be assigned a starting hole. All fees and charges must be billed to member accounts. All play begins at hole No. 1 and is continuous unless otherwise authorized by the Pro Shop staff. Players playing only nine holes are permitted to cut in alternately on the 16th tee on weekdays (other than holidays) except during tournament play. Foursomes have preference at all times. Singles, twosomes, and threesomes are encouraged to form foursomes so that more persons can enjoy the course in less time. Only threesomes or foursomes may tee off before 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sunday or Holidays, in season. If a hole is open ahead, slower players must allow faster players to play through. Starting times are strongly encouraged. Starting times may be made two weeks in advance. Members are limited to no more than two starting times on any Saturday, Sunday or Holiday , in season. A reserved tee time must be cancelled in advance if it will not be used. Persons adding their name to an incomplete group listed on the Starting Log must verify with a member of that group that they may be included. The Golf Pro will attempt to arrange games for individuals upon request. Tuesday mornings from June through September are designated as "Ladies' Day." Times of play for Juniors (under age 23) may be limited to those times when the course is not crowded as determined by the Golf Pro. Guests and Cottage renters are encouraged to participate as Class IV Members, subject to dues, fees, and rules as established by the Eagles Mere Country Club. Guests may reserve starting times after 11:00 a.m. on weekdays in-season and after 12:00 noon on weekends and holidays. Guests will be provided with copies of the Rules and Regulations upon request and are expected to comply with same. Members must make prior arrangements (preferably in writing) with the Pro or Club Manager for unaccompanied guests to use the facilities of the Club.

Comments by members or guests about any aspect of the Golf Program or Staff should be made in writing to the Golf Chair or a Board member. REPEAT VIOLATORS OF THE RULES AND/OR THEIR SPONSORS WILL BE NOTIFIED IN WRITING. CONTINUED RULES VIOLATIONS MAY RESULT IN RESTRICTION OR REVOCATION OF MEMBERSHIP WITH LOSS OF ALL FEES PAID.

VI. Golf Carts

Golf carts are available at the Pro Shop at published rates.

Golf Cart Rules: Golf cart operation is limited to persons 16 years of age or older. Children 6 or older, accompanied by an adult member playing golf, are permitted on golf carts as a rider only. Children under 6 are not permitted on golf carts. Only two persons are permitted to ride on a golf cart. Golf carts must be driven on paths where indicated. Please obey all cart directional signs. Golf carts must not be driven closer to greens than indicated by the white “golf cart” posts. Carts MUST return to designated cart paths as they approach “white posts” on each side of the fairway approximately 30 yards in front of the greens and top of the hill on the 6 th fairway. Please do not drive golf carts in woods or heavy rough. Please deposit trash in appropriate receptacles to keep our course beautiful. Please return golf carts to area designated by sign at Pro Shop. Carts returned after hours of operation of Pro Shop should be placed in the parking area at the entrance to the cart storage area. All carts must be returned by 8:00 p.m. or dusk, whichever occurs earlier. Persons operating or occupying a cart with a Blue Flag are responsible for the safe and careful operation of the cart.  In no event should a cart be operated within 20 feet of a green.

VII. Tennis – Skip Brand, Committee Chair

The Club's courts are for the exclusive use of the members and their guests. All tennis players must register at the Pro Shop before playing. Court times may be reserved up to two weeks in advance. Rules for court use are available at the Pro Shop. Fees for guests are listed in the annual fee schedule.

VIII. Club House – Diane Ryan, Committee Chair

The club house offers all the amenities associated with a private country club. The facilities of the club house are restricted to members and their guests.

Bar and dining services are available daily (See monthly calendar). Evening buffets as well as a la carte menus are featured during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Dinners are also available throughout the winter months on Saturday nights. Reservations are requested for all dinners and special events. WHEN MAKING RESERVATIONS, PLEASE SPECIFY THE TIME YOU WISH TO BE SEATED IN THE DINING ROOM,  ALLOWING SUFFICIENT TIME TO GREET FRIENDS AND HAVE COCKTAILS IN THE BAR AND GRILL ROOM.  THIS WILL HELP ASSURE PROMPT, EFFICIENT SERVICE FOR YOU AND OTHERS.

The club house is available to members for private group dining and parties. Post-season the club house is available for private functions on weekends and holidays.

Minimum club house expenditures are required as set forth under the schedule of dues and fees. The dining minimum will apply to food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases. An 18% gratuity will be added to all club house food and beverage purchases unless otherwise specified by the member.

The use of cell phones in the club house is not permitted.

Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed buildings located on club property.

Informality is the keynote of all activities at the Club. However, appropriate attire is required at all times. Denim blue jeans, cut-offs, t-shirts and halter tops are prohibited on the golf course and in the club house. In addition, it is requested that all men's caps and visors be removed in the club house.

On Saturdays, in the dining room after 6:00 p.m. (“in-season”) all gentlemen 21 and over are required to wear a sports jacket; women are asked to wear appropriate dresses or pants suits.  Casual attire (e.g., clothing suitable for golf) is acceptable after 6:00 p.m. in the grill room and porch area only.

IX. Alcoholic Beverages

Alcoholic beverages may only be purchased from the bar by members or guests of members and may only be consumed in the club house, porch, tennis court and proshop

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the golf course.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Members will receive a monthly calendar of events prior to the beginning of each month the club is in operation. The monthly calendars will detail the upcoming athletic and social events. Copies of the calendars are also available at the club house and Pro Shop or at www.eaglesmerecc.com.
